Our Speakers
Maria Nikoletatos
Maria was APA’s very first employee, and to this day, she’s still the most entertaining. Known affectionately as our resident payroll nerd, Maria has an unmatched passion for getting payroll right. She’s the person who actually enjoys reading payroll legislation in her spare time (yes, really) and her reputation for razor sharp knowledge is legendary.
As one of APA’s most enthusiastic trainers and our living, breathing knowledge base, Maria is the go to for even the trickiest payroll questions. If she doesn’t know the answer… well, no one does.
Sarah O Brien
Sarah is an executive with specialties in superannuation policy, regulation and governance, operations, technical and security, with in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry. She has particular expertise in the operational aspects of financial services and superannuation, and the design and implementation of regulatory change.
Sarah is passionate about good policy and the superannuation industry working with government and regulators to achieve the best outcomes for people in retirement, and for a fair and equitable system. She is active in working groups and committees with industry bodies and government, including as a member of the Women in Super National Policy Committee.
Sarah is currently Head of Regulatory Policy at Rest, one of Australia’s largest profit to member super funds. Previously, Sarah successfully led the establishment and early operation of the Gateway Network Governance Body Ltd, which is responsible for the governance of the Superannuation Transaction Network of Gateway Operators for the superannuation industry, following roles in policy, advocacy and regulatory change at Commonwealth Bank and Colonial First State.
Belinda Stewart
Belinda brings more than 25 years of experience across payroll, workforce compliance, regulatory reform and system transitions. She has been closely involved in major industry initiatives including SuperStream, Single Touch Payroll Phases 1 and 2 (STP1 and STP2), and JobKeeper. With deep expertise in compliance, governance and data security, Belinda is recognised for translating complex regulatory change into practical, scalable operational solutions.
At Wrkr, Belinda leads operational enablement and industry alignment across the Wrkr platform and its broader ecosystem. She works closely with Product, Engineering, Fund Administrators and Superannuation Funds to shape end-to-end compliance flows, service models and implementation approaches. Her role spans client engagement, regulatory interpretation, delivery design and continuous optimisation - ensuring innovation is grounded in operational reality and aligned to fund and regulatory expectations.
In the context of Payday Superannuation, Belinda plays a key role in supporting industry transition, reducing employer complexity and strengthening operational scalability across gateways, payroll integrations and fund interactions. Louise Missen
Like most payroll professionals, Louise fell into the payroll world many moons ago, almost by mistake. She now has over fifteen years’ experience in Australian payroll, working for a number of great Australian brands in different industries. With all this knowledge Louise now focuses on training and supporting our members and students to grow their payroll knowledge.
Away from the office, Louise can often be found spending time with family and friends. She lives by the quote ‘Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you’ by Misty Copeland.
Emma-Lee Oliver
With 17 years of payroll experience under her belt, Emma-Lee didn’t plan to land in payroll, she quite literally fell into it via timesheet administration on the WA mines. Since then, she’s mastered the art of getting people paid (and keeping a straight face when they hand in their timesheets late).
When she’s not solving payroll puzzles, Emma-Lee is wrangling her two energetic boys, stitching up bags and purses, or planning her next Disney adventure. If there’s a mouse involved, she’s probably already packed.
